I didn't know it really was the Pres of our company on the telephone--I almost got fired

At the end of my Friday afternoon show I would open an envelope from J T Murphy the company pres with the grades for the week. I'd read off the names newsman, traffic reporter, sports guy & of course my grade. The grades were in the 70's & 80's but mine was always a 99 with a nice comment from the president. That is the bit the caller is talking about.

I was last on 1100 in 1968 when it was WKYC--they even used the old jingle  It brought back a lot of great memories. I should mention the salary I gave included talent fees but NBC was very generous. WIXY didn't pay much but nobody complained & I was there when we knocked off WKYC & became number one. Bill & Mike were great to talk with.
